Our story
Dögun is an Icelandic production company based in Sauðárkrókur. The company was founded in 1983 and has been operating continuously for more than 40 years. The company specialises in the processing of cold-water prawns from the North Atlantic. The company is also involved in prawn fishing in the Barents Sea.
Production began in 1984, with an emphasis on processing inland shrimp from Skagafjörður. Since then, the company has undergone numerous upgrades to its production equipment, increasing all technology and automation in its production. Output has increased manyfold, and the company now operates one of the most advanced prawn processing plants in the northern hemisphere.

Production and development
Each year, Dögun processes products from thousands of tonnes of raw material, and the company employs around 30 people. With changing conditions in the prawn fishery off the coast of Iceland, Dögun has adapted its operations and established a strong raw material supply from international fishing grounds, including the Barents Sea, off Canada, the coast of Iceland and East Greenland.
Long-term contracts and partnerships with fisheries ensure a steady supply of raw materials.
Markets and products
Dögunar's products are finished and ready for consumption. They are sold on both domestic and international markets. The majority of the production is exported, primarily to the UK, Denmark and other European countries. Sales to Asia have also grown in recent years.
The company places great emphasis on consistent quality and reliability in its business.

Quality and responsibility
Quality, traceability and the responsible use of resources are at the forefront of all Dögun's operations. A large proportion of our production is MSC certified, and we are working proactively to ensure the sustainable use of fish stocks and responsible environmental practices.
